15 SUNYAC Players Receive NSCAA All-East Region Recognition
On the women's side, SUNY Oneonta had representation on each of the three teams with Kayla Brantmeyer (Center Moriches, NY) on the first team. Brantmeyer was the SUNYAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Year after scoring six goals this season, three of them being game winning goals, and four assists. Krystal Scott (Centerreach, NY) was placed on the second team and was named the SUNYAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Year this season. Scott anchored a defense that went undefeated at home (9-0) allowing just 21 goals. Karly DeSimone (Clifton Park, NY) was named to the third team. DeSimone started in all 20 games this season scoring five goals and adding three assists. The Red Dragons finished the season with an overall record of 12-7-1.
SUNY Fredonia's Reilly Condidorio (Leroy, NY) earned a spot on the All-East Region First Team after being selected to the NSCAA All-America second team for the second year in a row earlier this week. Condidorio finished the season with nine goals, four of them to win games, and 22 points to add to her school records in both categories. Teammate Katie Kleine (Cazenovia, NY) was placed on the all-region second team. Kleine had nine goals, three game-winners, and added seven assists to lead the Blue Devils in overall scoring with 25 points. The Blue Devils (12-4-3) tied a team record for wins in a season and finished third in the SUNYAC (6-2-1).
SUNY Brockport's Vanessa Gillette (Fredonia, NY) was named to the All-East Region second team. Gillette led the SUNYAC in most offensive categories during the 2012 season. Brockport finished the year with a 15-3-2 record, including a 7-1-1 mark in SUNYAC play.
SUNYAC Champion SUNY Cortland had Jennifer Fox (New Hyde Park, NY) and Stacey Wood (New Hyde Park, NY) placed on the third team. The Red Dragons made it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament and finished the season with a 12-5-6 mark and tied for ninth nationally.
SUNY New Paltz's Emily Rokitowski (Wappingers Falls, NY) earned third team recognition. Rokitowski led a back line that earned 10 shutouts on the season, she also made an offensive impact, scoring four goals. The Hawks finished their season with a 12-5-2 overall record.
On the men's side, the SUNYAC Champions, SUNY Oneonta, had two athletes honored. Dan Scott (Salt Point, NY) was placed on the first team while teammate Eric Fortier (Pleasant Valley, NY) was selected to the second team. Scott was named the SUNYAC Men’s Soccer Most Valuable Player and anchored a defense that keep Oneonta’s opponents to just one goal in each game during tournament play. Fortier totaled six goals and three assists this season. Oneonta finished the season 14-5-2.
Plattsburgh State men also had one athlete on each the first and second teams. The Cardinals finished with a 17-3-1 record and claimed the SUNYAC regular season title. Matt Hamilton (Keesville, NY), who was named to the NSCAA Second Team All-America List earlier this week was placed on the All-East Region first team. Hamilton had a team-high 10 goals this season. Nick Pourakis (Poughquag, NY) was honored on the All-East Region second team. Pourakis was also the recipient of the 2012 Fred Holloway Award.
SUNY Brockport's junior defender Bobby Ross (Grand Island, NY) was named to the NSCAA All-East Region third team. Ross scored two goals and added an assist during the 2012 campaign, but kept SUNYAC opponents to 1.2 goals per game. The Golden Eagles posted a 6-2-1 record in conference play to earn the No. 3 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament.
SUNY New Paltz's Nicholas DiPaola (Huntington, NY), also named to the third team, anchored a back line that earned seven shutouts and a goals against average of 1.18, both good for third in the SUNYAC. The Hawks finished the 2012 campaign with an 11-8-1 overall record.
