SUNYAC Outstanding Swimmer and Diver of the Year Awards announced
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outstanding Swimmer and Diver of the Year Awards are being presented for the first time this year. The award winners were nominated by coaches based on their performances throughout the season including the SUNYAC Championship meet and NCAA Championships. The 2014-2015 Outstanding Male Swimmer of the Year is John Nasky (Geneseo) and the Outstanding Female Swimmer of the Year goes to Abigail Max (Geneseo). The 2014-2015 Outstanding Male Diver of the Year is Jeffrey Matter (Fredonia) and the Outstanding Female Diver of the Year is Meghan Bartlett (Fredonia).
Outstanding Male Swimmer of the Year
Geneseo's John Nasky was this year's SUNYAC Male Swimmer of the Meet after he finished first in both the 500 and 1650 freestyle events. He then went on to NCAA where he received All-American Honorable Mention after placing ninth in the men's 1650 freestyle. Â
Outstanding Female Swimmer of the Year
Geneseo's Abigail Max took the Female Swimmer of the Meet after winning the women's 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, and 100 freestyle. She also received this year's Grace Mowatt Award. Max's performance at the NCAA Championship earned her All-American recognition for her fourth place finish in the 200 freestyle. Additionally, she received All-American Honorable Mention for finishing in tenth place in the 500 freestyle.
Outstanding Male Diver of the Year
Fredonia's Jeffrey Matter went to NCAA Championships where he received All-American honors for his 4th place finish in the 3-meter dive. In addition, he received All-American Honorable Mention for his 16th place finish in the 1-meter dive.
Outstanding Female Diver of the Year
Fredonia's Meghan Bartlett was named SUNYAC Female Diver of the Meet this year. She took first place in the 1 and 3 meter diving finals. At the NCAA Championships she received All-American honors for her performances in the 3-meter and 1-meter dives finishing sixth and seventh respectively.Â
