SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships - Day 2

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Buffalo, N.Y. –The Geneseo men and women hold onto the lead in the team standings heading into the final day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's and women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
Friday's finals began with the women's 200 medley relay, where Brockport (1:47.20) took first place. Geneseo (1:47.61) and New Paltz (1:48.31) followed in second and third respectively.
Cortland took the men's 200 medley relay with a 1:1:31.81 time, which was a conference and meet record. Geneseo (1:33.20) was second and New Paltz came in third with a time of 1:34.48.
The women's 400 IM went to Oneonta's Lauren Zentko with a time of 4:38.93. In second place was Geneseo's Amanda Berry with a time of 4:39.67. Berry's teammate, Jenna Gibbons came in third with a time of 4:39.99.
Men's 400 IM was won by Geneseo's Kenny Athans with a time of 4:06.71, which beat the conference and meet record he set last year of 4:07.73. In second came Oneonta's Lucas Santiago with a 4:11.43 mark. In third place was Geneseo's Ben Ford with a 4:13.69 time.
The women's 100 butterfly went to New Paltz's Molly McCullouch, with a meet record time of 57.10. Sabia Filiaci, Oswego, 57.80 and Hailey Modelewski, Geneseo, 58.49 came in second and third.
The men's 100 fly went to Potsdam's Ty Zapisek with a 50.59 time. Geneseo's Andy Schunk took second place with 51.31 and Yonghoon Jun took third with a 51.54 mark.
Abigail Max of Geneseo took the women's 200 freestyle with a meet record time of 1:50.32. She previously set the meet record in 2014 with a 1:50.36. Cassidy Griger, New Paltz, took second place with a 1:55.23 time. Fredonia's Sam Rokos took third place with a 1:57.04 time.
The men's 200 freestyle went to Cortland's Reeve Callen with a 1:41.07 time. Finishing behind Callen was Geneseo's Jeff Doser (1:41.13) and Cortland's Mark Hanifin (1:42.23).
Melanie Melewski, Brockport, won the women's 100 breast with a time of 1:04.48, breaking the meet record of 1:05.09, which she set in 2014. Larissa Dobson, Fredonia, took second with a 1:05.39 mark and Samantha Granan, New Paltz, took third with a time of 1:06.22.
The men's 100 breast was won by Adam Clouthier, Fredonia, with a time of 57.18. Cortland's Jack Jakubek (57.30) and Brendan Thompson (58.26) came in second and third.
The women's 100 back was won by Oneonta's Carly Cahill with a time of 58.81. Brockport's Taylor Schaffert (58.85) and Geneseo's Emily Smith (59.52) finished second and third.
Geneseo's Kristian Tialios took the men's 100 back finals with a time of 51.36. He was followed by Oneonta's Colton Roe (51.45) and Cortland's Dylan Burns (51.51).
Fredonia's Meghan Bartlett won the women 1 meter diving finals with a 454.55 score. Brockport's Lydia Allen (447.25) and Cortland's Miranda Fergus (430.85) came in second and third.
The women's 800 free relay went to Geneseo with a 7:46.13 mark. New Paltz came in second with a 7:56.84 time and Oneonta came in third (7:56.99).
The men's 800 free relay went to Cortland with a meet record 6:52.50 time. Geneseo (6:55.42) and New Paltz (7:11.44) finished the event in second and third.
The final day of the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships will be tomorrow with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
Behind Geneseo in the team rankings on the women's side is Oneonta and Fredonia while the Cortland and Oneonta men are second and third in the team rankings.
