The student-athletes fight for the chance to defend individual titles while competitors come in fighting to win their first SUNYAC titles. We look forward to seeing which records will be broken. Last year the men's and women's teams from Geneseo won the team championships. This year every SUNYAC school is looking to take the crown home.

2015 Men's Swimming and Diving Events Preview
The Geneseo men won the 2013-14 SUNYAC men's swimming and diving team title (21st time overall) and are trying to keep the tradition going. The Cortland men's team upset a 14 year streak for Geneseo during the 2012-2013 Swimming and Diving Championships and you never know another team might disrupt the streak again. All the teams seem to have a swimmer ranked high in at least one event so this could be a close year.
Diving:
1 Meter (11 Dives)- Bartlett leads this year's top time of 503.2. Oneonta's Kara Garbarino holds the second spot with 444.6. The meet record is held by Ashley Keller, Fredonia, with 489.95. Caroline Gardner, Geneseo, has a 433.8 behind Garbarino.3 meter diving (11 dives)- Fredonia's Meghan Bartlett also is this year's top time with 486.3. Geneseo's Caroline Gardner (469.15) and teammate Claudia Kolakowski (464.85) hold the next two spots so far this year. Kelly Sponholz, Fredonia, holds the top meet record with 543.80 in 2009.
Swimming (top times based off of usaswimming.org):
50 Freestyle: Last year John Estanislau from Fredonia won the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.89 but this year we have two new contenders for the first place finish. William Koenig a junior from New Paltz and a freshman Connor Mergler from Buffalo State are going to be a good match up with their current times only .05 seconds away from each other.
100 Freestlye: William Koenig again with a top time this year currently has a time .40 seconds faster than freshman Jeff Doser and his teammate Kenny Athans for Geneseo but the championships bring out the best in everyone so you never know what will happen.
200 Freestyle: Two years in a row Cortland junior Reeve Callen won this event and this year he is currently third with Geneseo freshman Jeff Doser and New Paltz junior Rod Taskindoust in front of him in the top times this season. This could be a fight to the finish for Reeve Callen if he wants to take home first place for a third time.
500 Freestyle: Â Geneseo senior John Nasky has won this event for the past three years and being that it's his last year he hopes to do it again as he is currently ranked first with a time of 4:44.16. Another senior from New Paltz Jack Spader who is currently ranked second with a time of 4:49.01 hopes to upset that streak as he too only has one last chance to win.
1650 Freestyle: Again Geneseo senior John Nasky won this event for the past three years and currently ranked first with New Paltz senior Jack Spader not far behind this event is going to be a close one as both seniors want it as much as the other one.
100 Backstroke: Oneonta senior Colton Roe who won last year is going to be battling against two Geneseo teammates Kristian Tialios and Brian Yale who are ranked first and second before him in the conference. Colton Roe is going to be fighting for his second win in a row and Oneontas fourth.
200 Backstroke: Kristian Tialios reigning champ in this event is going up against Colton Roe who fought him to the finish last year and is going to do the same this year.
100 Breaststroke: After last year's upset of Cortland's Sophmore Jack Jakubek stealing the win from Potsdams senior Richard Zimmerman he hopes to do it this year as well with a time of 1:00.00. Currently a freshman from Oneonta Zeke Brynin might steal it this year as he is currently first with a time of 58.87.
200 Breaststroke: In this event as well the Oneonta Freshman Zeke Brynin is in first with a time of 2:08.36. Zeke Brynin might be a swimmer to watch in the Breaststroke, with last year's winner from Fredonia Adam Clothier fighting against him for his second win.
100 Butterfly: last year it was a close finish with .10 seconds difference between first and second. Andy Schunk from Geneseo and Ty Zapisek from Potsdam both came close to winning but Ty ultimately came out on top. This year with Ty in third and Andy in first it might be another close one. And who knows Geneseo teammate Kristian Tialios currently in second might blow them both away.
200 Butterfly: This year a freshman from Fredonia is currently first with Lucas Santiago from Oneonta who came in second last year and Geneseo's Andy Schunk who came in third right behind him going for first.
200 IM: Last year two Geneseo teammates fought to the finish for first place. Kristian Tialios was going for a win two years in a row and his teammate Kenny Athens was going for his first win in this event. Ultimately Kenny Athens finished first and this year looks like it's going to be another battle as Athans is currently first with a time of 1:55.59 and Tialios is in second with a time of 1:56.56.
400 IM: two years ago an Oneonta swimmer came out of nowhere to win the event. Oneonta has not won this in over 26 years before then. This year it looks like an Oneonta swimmer might take back the win for his team. Lucas Santiago from Oneonta is in second with a time of 4:14.02 behind Geneseo swimmer Kenny Athans with a time of 4:09.06.
200 Free Relay: This year's relay looks like it's going to be one for the books with all nine teams only a seven second difference in their top times. New Paltz is currently in first with Geneseo and Cortland not far behind.
400 Free Relay: This event looks about the same as the 200 with New Paltz in first again and Geneseo and Cortland right behind.
800 Free Relay: Two years in a row Cortland has won this event but this year it looks like Geneseo is the front runner, with New Paltz in second and Oneonta in third.
200 Medley Relay: Geneseo has won this event the last two years and they might make it a third as they are currently in first place with a time of 1:36.12. This event was a battle between Cortland and Geneseo for ten years and with Cortland currently in third you never know they might win it back this year.
400 Medley Relay: two years ago Geneseo set the new record time of 3:25.00 and then last year they won with a time of 3:25.77. This year they are currently ranked first with Cortland and Oneonta in second and third. Hoping to set another record this year's race is going to be one for the books.
