Conference Announces Athletes of the Week

ICE HOCKEY PLAYER - Plattsburgh
Ryan Craig, junior forward
Ryan Craig (Easton, MD/Niagara University) had a six point week as the Cardinals defeated two nationally ranked opponents in Williams and Geneseo. On Monday, Craig tallied a goal and an assist in Plattsburgh's 5-1 win over No. 6 Williams. In Friday's 4-2 win over No. 7 Geneseo, Craig scored a goal and an assist. Craig also added two assists in a 4-2 win over Brockport on Saturday night.

Josh Leis, sophomore
Josh Leis (Kitchener, ONT/Listowel Cyclones) continues his outstanding play with a 3-0 week in between the pipes for Plattsburgh to earn his third SUNYAC Goalie of the week honors in the last four weeks. Leis allowed one goal and recorded 24 saves against No. 6 Williams on Monday. On Friday night, Leis stopped 19 shots in Plattsburgh's 4-2 win against nationally-ranked No. 7 Geneseo. In the Cardinals' 4-2 victory over Brockport on Saturday, Leis turned away 26 of 28 shots. He finished the week with 1.67 goals allowed and a save percentage of 93 percent.

ICE HOCKEY ROOKIE - Morrisville
James Jarvis, defense
Defensemen James Jarvis (Pickering, ONT/Whitby Fury) posted a goal and assist in the 3-2 loss to #14 Hobart College on Saturday. He assisted the first score in the second period to cut the Statesman lead to one, before netting a power play goal in the 19th minute of the final period for the Mustangs to complete the scoring.
MEN'S BASKETBALL - Plattsburgh
Carl Munnerlyn, senior guard
Carl Munnerlyn (Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie) came off the bench to lead the Cardinals with an 18.0 scoring average, as Plattsburgh went 2-0 in SUNYAC play. He tied his career-high of 23 points vs. Buffalo State to top all scorers, including 10-of-10 at the free throw line. He sank six attempts in the final 1:22 to seal the 80-76 win as the Cardinals shot 78.6 from the charity stripe. Munnerlyn shot 43 percent from the arc, 45 from the floor and 87.5 from the charity stripe over the two-game span as Plattsburgh moved into sole possession of second place in the SUNYAC standings.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Geneseo
Alyssa Polosky, senior forward
Alyssa Polosky (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) led Geneseo to a 3-0 week as the Knights remained unbeaten in SUNYAC play at 8-0. Polosky averaged 16 points and 8.7 boards, including posting her fourth double-double of the season with a season-high 20 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in the 88-66 win over second place Cortland on Saturday. The 20 points marked Polosky's fifth straight game scoring double-digits, bringing her season total to ten games. She finished the week shooting 47 % from the floor and 81 percent from the foul line.
MEN'S SWIMMING - Potsdam
Alexander Taylor, sophomore
Alexander Taylor (Port Ewen, NY/Kingston) led the Bears to consecutive dual meet victories over Clarkson and St. Lawrence with five individual wins on Jan. 21-22. Taylor captured the 500 free (4:59.43) and 1000 free (10:36.04) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.57) against the Golden Knights on Friday. On Saturday, he won the 200 free (1:51.52), 500 free (5:00.60) and was part of the winning 400-medley relay (3:46.81) against the Saints.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING - New Paltz
Becky Baker, senior
Senior Becky Baker (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C Ketcham) set three new pool records, was a double-winner and part of two winning relays in the dual meet win over Cortland on Saturday. She won the 100 breastroke in 1:07.66 topping her own facility mark set a year ago and also captured the 200 breaststroke clocking a 2:33.30. Baker started the meet as part of the 200 medley relay (1:50.89) which bettered the former pool record by almost a full second set in 2007. At the end of the meet, she teamed up for the 200 freestyle relay which posted a 1:41.47, wiping out the old pool standard by a narrow .52 seconds.
MEN'S DIVING - Brockport
Dan Brigano, senior
Senior Dan Brigano (Utica, NY/Proctor) won the three-meter diving with a score of 307.35 points to set a personal-best and also eclipse the NCAA Division III national qualifying standard in the dual meet against Alfred University. Brigano's score of 307.35 is the first time he has ever eclipsed 300 points on the three meter for six dives. His previous best was 292. Brigano also won the one-meter (298.65 points), surpassing the national qualifying standard in the one-meter.
WOMEN'S DIVING - Cortland
Lauryn Kaznowski, graduate
Lauryn Kaznowski (Kingston, NY/Kingston) is the SUNYAC women's diver of the week for the third consecutive week after leading Cortland to a dual meet win and an Invitational victory. Kaznowski won the one-meter diving (214.70 points) and tied for first on three-meter (206.75 points) diving in Cortland's dual-meet win at Oswego on Tuesday. She also placed second in three-meter diving (221.55 points) and fourth in one-meter diving (179.15 points) as Cortland finished first at the five-team RPI Invitational Saturday.
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE - Buffalo State
Xavier Mateen, senior
Xavier Mateen (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) won the 55-meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 6.47 and was second in the 200-meter dash (22.72). He was one of seven first place finishes and one of five runner-up showings for Buffalo State at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January meet, as the Bengals took second out of eight teams.
WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE - Buffalo State
Jasmine Poles, freshman
Freshman Jasmine Poles (Rochester, NY/LeRoy) led Buffalo State as a double-winner, claiming the 200-meter dash (26.93) and the long jump (5.27m) at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January meet. The Bengals finished third out of seven teams.
MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE - Brockport
Ray Lund, senior
Senior Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) captured both the shot put and the weight throw with a pair of NCAA Division III National Championship provisional qualifying standard throws during Saturday's St. Lawrence University Open. Lund used a season best throw of 18.24 meters to claim first place in the weight throw and recorded a toss of 15.55 meters in the shot up.
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE - Oneonta
Kacy Boburka, sophomore
Sophomore Kacy Boburka (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) set a school record and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III track & field championships in the high jump this past Saturday at the St. Lawrence Invitational. She cleared 1.66m en route to a first place finish in the event. Her 10 points helped the Red Dragons finish fourth out of 10 teams at the Invitational.
