Jaskulski Named Assistant Coach of the Year
NCAA DIVISION III OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD AWARDS
Ed Jaskulski, an assistant coach for The College at Brockport’s cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field teams, was honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the NCAA’s Atlantic Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year.
This is the second straight season that Jaskulski has earned the national recognition after winning for his work with the men's team last spring. Jaskulski, a 2003 Brockport graduate, has served as an assistant coach for eight years, and has overseen the Golden Eagles’ throwers during a recent stretch of national success.

Jaskulski, a 2003 Brockport graduate, has served as an assistant coach for eight years, and has overseen the Golden Eagles’ throwers during a recent stretch of national success.
During his coaching tenure, Jaskulski has coached 14 NCAA participants, 11 All-Americans, 25 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champions, 17 state champions and one Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) champion.
Senior Stephanie Powell (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) is the latest thrower to earn a spot in the NCAA Division III national championships under Jaskulski’s watchful eye. Powell qualified for nationals in the hammer throw during the 2011 outdoor season, her second straight trip to nationals, after throwing the hammer 51.40 meters (168 feet, 7.68 inches) during the Roberts Wesleyan Raider Open on April 30. That effort was just 0.36 inches shy of Bridget Mayne’s school record of 51.41 meters (168 feet, 8.04 inches), set on April 25, 2008.
Powell, who last spring placed 12th at outdoor nationals, and senior Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland), who placed 11th in the weight throw at the 2010-11 indoor nationals, are the latest Brockport throwers to earn national accolades with Jaskulski’s tutelage.
During the SUNYAC championship meet, Jaskulski’s throwers accounted for 61 of Brockport’s 106.5 points. Sophomore Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) captured the shot put with an effort of 40 feet, 8 3/4 inches (12.41 meters) as Brockport finished 1-2-3 in the event. Freshman Kristine Hoover (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington) placed second with an effort of 38 feet, nine inches (11.81 meters) while senior Stacey Gibbins (Eden, NY/Eden) placed third with an effort of 36 feet, nine inches (11.2 meters). Also at SUNYAC’s, Powell captured her second straight hammer throw title.
Jaskulski is among 32 USTFCCA members to earn Coach or Assistant Coach of the Year honors in Division III.
Along with Powell, Jaskulski is down in Delaware, Ohio for this week’s NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field championships, which occur Thursday through Saturday at the Selby Field and George Gauthier Track on the Ohio Wesleyan campus. Powell, seeded 16th out of 23 competitors, is slated to compete at 6 p.m. Thursday night.
In 2009, Jaskulski was promoted to interim head coach for the Outdoor Track & Field squads and was selected as the SUNYAC Coach of the Year for women's track and field as the Golden Eagles captured their first SUNYAC women’s title.
Jaskulski works primarily with Brockport’s throwers and also serves as the college’s co-strength and conditioning coach.
