Justin Allen and Ray Lund Qualify for Nationals
SUNYAC had two student-athletes automatically qualify to participate in the 2011 Men’s Indoor Track and Field NCAA Championship over the weekend.
Brockport senior Ray Lund (Thiells, NY/North Rockland) won the weight throw competition at the Robert Kane Invitational Meet at Cornell University Saturday with an NCAA Championships automatic qualifying standard throw of 18.85 meters (61 feet, 10 ¼ inches). The throw for Lund was a personal best as he eclipsed the 18-meter mark with five of his six throws in the competition. The senior also finished fourth in the shot put with a heave of 15.03 meters (49' 3 ¾”).

Sophomore Justin Allen (Mt. Vernon, NY/Mt. Vernon) helped set three new Buffalo State records competing at the DI Boston University Valentine Invitational. He placed third in the 400-meter dash with an automatic NCAA qualifying time and SUNYAC record of 47.64 seconds, posting the second fastest DIII time in the country this season. He added a school record placing fourth adding another SUNYAC record in the 200-meter dash (21.63), and also teamed up with Devyn Hollenbeck, B.J. Murray and Jimmy Campbell to break a 31-year old Buffalo State record with an NCAA provisional time of 3:17.91.
Capital University will serve as the host for the 2011 Indoor Track and Field Championships, March 11-12. More Information.
