Oneonta Athletics hosts successful "Kids in Sports Day"
The Oneonta State athletics department hosted its second annual “Kids in Sports Day” event on Sunday January 30 from 10am-2:15pm in the Alumni Field House. The event was a rousing success as evidenced by the many smiling children who participated.
The student-athletes at Oneonta State take it upon themselves to give back to the community as a part of the department’s mission. For the second straight year, the Athletics Department organized an event for children in the greater Oneonta area. This event is intended to encourage the local youth to become involved with sports.
“Kids in Sports Day” provided an opportunity for children to enjoy a fun-filled day learning about various sports. Children, ages 4-13, participated in a multitude of activities ranging from shooting hoops and scoring goals, to racing around the indoor track in the Alumni Field House.
Student athletes from lacrosse, field hockey, volleyball, track & field, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s basketball participated in teaching the children various skills associated with their sports while playing games with each group.
