Abbott Chosen as Weekly ECAC Player of Week
Cortland senior midfielder Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Mid-Atlantic Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, for the week ending April 1.
Abbott became Cortland's career-goal leader with her 10-goal performance in two games last week, surpassing the old mark of 211 set by Jeanna Angotti from 1999-2002. Abbott now has 214 career goals along with a Cortland-record 151 assists for a school-record 365 points.
Abbott opened the week with five goals and five assists in a 21-7 win at Nazareth and followed up with five goals and three assists in a 19-6 victory at Oswego, breaking the record with her third goal of the game early in the first half. For the season, Abbott leads the third-ranked Red Dragons (7-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) in goals (29), assists (28) and points (57) and has also recorded 13 ground balls and 13 draw controls.
