USTFCCCA Announces Cross Country All-Academic
Eight members of the SUNYAC men's and women's cross country teams earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team recognition as announced on Tuesday, February 15.
The All-Academic team is comprised of runners who finished in the top 35 at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional championship and carry a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average through the most recent semester. Geneseo had six representatives, while Plattsburgh State had two honorees.
Geneseo seniors Lee Gabler and Bill Juda were the lone conference representatives on the men's team out of the 142 student-athletes from 80 institutions. Gabler finished 16th at the regional meet in a time of 25:23.7 and Juda was 14 seconds behind in 25.37.0 to finish 21st.
A total of 170 female student-athletes were recognized and the SUNYAC was led by Geneseo sophomore Marissa Liberati who finished second at regional’s with a time of 21:53.8. Juniors Julie Dmochowski and Alyssa Smith placed 14th and 15th, respectively, one minute behind Liberati and Danae Polsin crossed in 23:14.6 for 29th place.
Juniors Julia Warren and Colleen Cotey finished in the top five for Plattsburgh and finished 27th and 33rd in 23:13.2 and 23:20.9, respectively.
