Five SUNYAC Cross Country Teams Ranked in USTFCCCA Top 35
Three SUNYAC women's cross country teams and two men's teams rank among the top 35 in the nation according to the latest Division III National Coaches Poll, released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday, Oct. 6.
The Geneseo women lived up to their No. 6 ranking with a first place finish at their home invitational on Oct. 2. The Knights had six runners finish in the top ten to help the squad cruise to the victory with 22 points, ahead of second place Brockport who had 73 points.
Cortland and Plattsburgh are new faces in the polls on the women's side, entering at No. 22 and 30, respectively. The Red Dragons finished fifth out of 41 schools in the Brown Division of the Lehigh Paul Short Run on Oct. 2. Junior Alyson Dalton finished fifth out of 387 runners in 22:00. The Plattsburgh women finished 11th in the same race and Stefanie Braun was close behind Dalton in ninth place with a 22:10 time.
On the men's side, Geneseo remains the top-ranked SUNYAC squad at No. 4 after a first-place finish at the Geneseo Invitational on Oct. 2. Junior Lee Berube led the Blue Knights with a 1st place finish of 170 runners.

Plattsburgh moved into the rankings this week and out of the others receiving votes, entering at No. 34 after taking 37th at the Brooks-Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on Oct. 2 in the Gold Division Run comprised of primarily Division I teams. Senior Mike Heymann was the top finisher for the Cardinals, crossing the line in 24:20 in 19th place. Fredonia is receiving votes on the men's side.
The next national poll will be announced on Oct. 13. The SUNYAC Conference Championship will be held at Battle Island State Park in Oswego, N.Y. on Oct. 30.
