SUNYAC Names Athletes of the Week
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY - New Paltz
Nichole Wischoff, sophomore
Sophomore Nicole Wischoff (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown Central)led New Paltz to a first place finish at the Bard Invitiational to earn SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for the week ending September 19. Wischoff crossed first in a time of 20:23 over the 5,000 meters in a field of 134 runners to earn her first-ever individual win as a Hawk.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY - Fredonia
Nick Guarino, senior
Senior Nick Guarino (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) is the SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after leading the Blue Devils to a fourth-place team finish at the Airfield Invitational held in Oneonta, NY. He placed second out of 288 competitors including athletes from conference opponents Oneonta, Geneseo, Cortland and Plattsburgh as he finished 13 seconds ahead of the next SUNYAC runner. Guarino clocked a personal best over the 8,000 meter course in a time of 24:57, his first sub-25 minute ever. This is the same course where the NCAA Atlantic Regionals will be run in November.
FIELD HOCKEY - Geneseo
Michelle Milkovich, senior forward
Senior Michelle Milkovich (Vestal, NY/Vestal) led the Blue Knights to a 3-0 week by scoring three goals and three assists. The forward started the week with two goals and one assist in a 5-1 win over Houghton. Milkovich assisted the opening goal, scored an unassisted goal and converted a penalty stroke. On Friday, Milkovich became the Geneseo career point leader with 70 when she scored unassisted, as the women's field hockey team secured the program's 100th win with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Oneonta Red Dragons. On Saturday, Milkovich picked up two assists as Geneseo won their third straight game with a 4-0 blanking of visiting New Paltz. She leads the team with three goals and five assists on the season.

Gardiner assisted on the game-tying goal against nationally ranked #4 Williams College on Wednesday with one minute left in regulation before the Hawks fell 3-2 in overtime. On Saturday, Gardiner scored twice in a span of five minutes in the first half to life New Paltz to a 2-1 victory against Oneonta. It was the first win for the Hawks over Oneonta, since the Red Dragons became a Division III program in 2006.

Barbara Kiliszek (Depew, NY/Lancaster) paced the Bengals to a 2-0 week with four goals and two assists to earn the SUNYAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week. The senior had a pair of assists in the 3-0 win over Medaille and netted all four goals in the SUNYAC opening 4-2 win over Fredonia, breaking a seven-game losing streak to the Blue Devils. Kiliszek scored three times in the first half and scored her final goal of the game off a corner kick. It was the first time in four years that Buffalo State has won its SUNYAC opener.

Senior Dana Kindelmann (Nesconset, NY/Sachem North) has been named the SUNYAC Volleyball Player of the Week after helping the New Paltz Hawks to an undefeated 5-0 week. New Paltz swept Sage College to start the week before going 4-0 at the Hawks Invitational. Kindelmann totaled 42 kills, hitting .402 with nine blocks and nine digs across the five matches. She notched a career-high 16 kills in the 3-2 win over SUNY Fredonia and added 11 kills in the 3-2 win against Clarkson. New Paltz won the Hawks Invitational for the seventh straight year and improve to 10-4 overall.
