Conference Names Athletes of the Week
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY - Cortland
Caitlin McAneny, senior
Brockport senior Caitlin McAneney ( Hornell, NY/Hornell) finished second out of 97 runners to help lead the Golden Eagles to a first-place team finish at the Hamilton Invitational and earn SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors. McAneney finished the 5K course in a time of 18:49, shaving 49 second off her time from last year's event. Brockport finished with 45 points and defeated host Hamilton by a point (46) and also knocked off regionally ranked Ithaca (99 points) to claim the title.

Matt Avery, senior
Senior Matt Avery (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) has been named the SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time in three weeks, previously earning the honor on September 27. Avery led Brockport to a second-place team finish with 44 points at the Hamilton Invitational to finish behind the host school's 35 points. Avery covered the 8K course in a time of 25:59, 27 seconds off the leader's time and almost a full minute ahead of the next runner. He finished second out of 99 runners.
FIELD HOCKEY - New Paltz
Sarah Schloss, senior forward
Senior Sarah Schloss (Brant Lake, NY/North Warren) became the New Paltz career point leader last week as she scored two goals in a 1-1 week for the Hawks. Schloss notched her 69th point, passing the old mark of 68 set from 2002-2004 with a goal in the 45th minute of a 3-1 win over Vassar College. She added to her career total after netting the Hawks' lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Montclair State. Schloss currently leads the Hawks with 14 points on the season.

Chris Taylor, senior midfielder
Chris Taylor (Liverpool, England/Cardinal Heenan) became the all-time assists leader in Plattsburgh State men's soccer history over the weekend to earn SUNYAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week. The Cardinals posted two shutouts over conference opponents to improve to 10-2-1 on the season. Taylor scored an unassisted goal in the 55th minute of a 4-0 win over Oneonta, the worst loss of the season for the Red Dragons, on Friday. Then in a 3-0 victory versus New Paltz, Taylor had two assists to become the career leader with 33 - breaking the previous record that stood for 14 years.

Julie LaPolla, senior forward
Fredonia senior Julie LaPolla (Penfield, NY/Penfield) scored two game-winning goals in a Blue Devils' 3-0 week, including two conference wins to earn SUNYAC Women's Soccer Player of the week. LaPolla put three shots on goal during the week, all resulting in goals. Her first shot was in the 88th minute of a 2-0 win over Elmira. Her second goal of the week came in the 85th minute against Cortland for a 1-0 victory, snapping a five game undefeated streak by the Red Dragons. LaPolla's final goal was notched 3:23 into overtime in a 4-3 win over Oswego.

Cortland junior Ashley Coyle (Mt. Hope, NY/Minisink Valley) led the Red Dragons to a 3-1 record on the week as she averaged 4.5 kills and 3.1 digs per set. The outside hitter finished with 67 kills, 47 digs and six aces on the week. With three wins on the week, the Cortland women's volleyball team reached the 20-victory mark for the 28th consecutive season. Coyle matched her career-high 20 kills in a 3-1 win over Ithaca and proceeded to register double-figure kills in a loss to Stevens (17) and wins against Geneseo (18) and Hunter (12).
