EVANSTON, Ill. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) had five women’s and one men’s swimming team chosen as College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams for their academic work through the fall 2011 semester, as announced by the CSCAA. A total of 130 NCAA Division III women’s teams and 76 NCAA Division III men’s teams earned the distinction.
The Team Scholar All America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships (winter/spring).
The Geneseo women led the list of SUNYAC women's teams with a 3.32 grade-point average. Joining the Knights were Buffalo State (3.29), Brockport (3.28), New Paltz (3.21) and Oneonta (3.0).
New Paltz was the only school to have both its men's and women's teams honors as the men made the list by virtue of a 3.06 grade-point average.
