SUNYAC Swimmers and Divers of the Week
The SUNYAC has announced the swimmers and divers of the week for the week ending Nov. 13.
MEN’S SWIMMING – Geneseo
Dan Strothenke, (New Paltz, NY/ New Paltz) senior
Senior Dan Strothenke paced Geneseo in a 161-133 victory of SUNY Cortland on Saturday, winning two individual events and participating on two event-winning relays. Strothenke clocked the top time in the 50 freestyle (22.44) and the 100 freestyle (49.08). He split a 49.07 on the freestyle leg of the 400 medley relay and a posted a 21.39 as the anchor leg of the freestyle relay.
MEN’S DIVING – Brockport
Chris Austin, (Middlesex, NY/ Naples) junior
Chris Austin has an impressive day on the diving board for The College of Brockport Men's Swimming and Diving team on Saturday as they defeated Potsdam University 166-127. Austin boasted impressive scores on both the 1-meter diving and the 3-meter diving to finish as a double winner for the Golden Eagles. On the 1-meter, Austin collected a score of 242.70 while he scored a 242.25 on the 3-meter.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING – Cortland
Chrisanna Hickey, (Hopewell Junction, NY/ John Jay E. Fishkill) sophomore
Chrisanna Hickey won two individual events in Cortland's 149-145 dual-meet victory over four-time defending SUNYAC champion Geneseo. She won the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.28) by five seconds over the nearest competitor and 200-yard individual medley (2:17.45). She also swam the butterfly leg on Cortland's winning 400-yard medley relay team.
WOMEN’S DIVING – Geneseo
Caroline Gardner, (Lyons, NY/ Newark) freshman
Caroline Gardner was a double winner on the boards for Geneseo in Saturday’s dual meet against Cortland. Gardner scored a 217.45 on the one-meter to win by a narrow 6.35 margin and collected a score of 223.55 on the three-meter.
