ECAC Athletes of the week
Three SUNYAC Athletes were chosen as ECAC players of the week for the week ending April 5th, 2015.
Division III Upstate Men's Outdoor Track and Field Co-Rookie of the Week
Dawan Jones – SUNY Cortland, Fr., Buffalo, N.Y.
Jones placed second of 21 in the triple jump and third of 36 in the long jump at the Ramapo Roadrunner Invitational, both with ECAC-qualifying distances. His triple jump of 14.03 meters (46' 0.5") ranks sixth nationally, and he registered a long jump of 6.68 meters (21' 11").
Division III Upstate Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Rachael Shine – Oneonta, So., Clifton Park, N.Y.
Shine competed this past Friday at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton, winning the 800, competing amongst runners from Division I. Her time of 2:09.91 not only broke the Oneonta record, but broke the SUNYAC record of 2:11.25 that was set in 1991. The time is currently the fastest in Division III. Shine now holds the conference record for both the indoor and outdoor 800.
Division III Upstate Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week
Zack Lander – SUNY Brockport, Senior, Rochester, N.Y.
Lander finished with a career-high 14 strikeouts for Brockport to close out a series sweep against Oneonta on Monday. Lander held the Red Dragons to just three hits and three walks during the complete game shutout.
