ECAC Honors Shaughnessy with Offensive Award

Pat Shaughnessy of the Plattsburgh State men’s soccer team has been named the ECAC Division III Upstate Region Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 16.
Shaughnessy figured into six of Plattsburgh’s seven goals over a 2-0 weekend. In a 4-1 win over Fredonia, Shaughnessy’s goal in the 23rd minute proved to be the game-winner. He also added two assists in the victory. On Saturday, he tallied a goal in each half and assisted on the Cardinals’ third goal as Plattsburgh defeated Buffalo State 3-1.
Shaughnessy is ranked among the NCAA D-III statistical leaders on lists released Monday. He is 35th in total points (25), 35th in total goals (10), and 106th in total assists (5).
The Cardinals are ranked ninth in the NSCAA East Regional Poll and wrap up their conference schedule with two games on the road this weekend. Plattsburgh travels to Geneseo on Friday for a 3 p.m. game before heading to Brockport for a 1 p.m. matchup on Saturday.
